The focus should be on a clear and complete application package, not necessarily the refundability of hotel reservations.

Ensure both show account activity and balance. Use Russian for cover letters and itinerary documents. For a 'Visa D' application, carry original financial documents along with notarized translations, as originals may be requested.

If bank statements are not available in the required language (e.g., English), official translated and notarized copies may be necessary. Some banks, like Sberbank, offer English statements within a short timeframe. The duration of the statement (e.g., 6 months) and the presence of financial activity are important factors.

However, digital statements from some neo-banks (e.g., Ozon Bank) have been accepted in practice without physical stamps. Electronic digital signatures (EDS/ЭЦП) may not be verifiable by consular staff, so standard bank statements are safer.
