Baggage and carry-on luggage policies

Pegasus Airlines baggage enforcement: Hand luggage weight (usually 8kg + 3kg personal item) is inconsistently enforced at the gate. While often overlooked, random spot checks with scales can occur at boarding. It is advised to stay within limits to avoid potential extra charges at the departure gate.

When flying with Pegasus Airlines, a standard school backpack is generally acceptable as a "personal item" if it adheres to the dimensions specified in the fare conditions. While it is usually not weighed or measured, it is advisable to check the exact dimensions on the airline's website to ensure compliance.

For Pegasus Airlines, if a soft hand luggage item (e.g., a garment bag) slightly exceeds stated dimensions but can be compressed to fit within the airline's sizing gauge (metal box), it is generally accepted as compliant.

Most low-cost airlines, such as FlyOne, provide a free small cabin bag allowance (typically 40x30x20 cm) even on basic fares. Laptop bags are frequently overlooked during weight checks. In the event of airline-initiated flight delays or cancellations, passengers are legally entitled to accommodation, transport, and meals.

For transit passengers flying with Turkish Airlines, hand luggage weight is rarely checked, even if it slightly exceeds the standard limit (typically 55x40x20 cm). Passengers have reported successful transit with hand luggage weighing up to 10-12 kg. While it's advisable to comply with regulations, a friendly demeanor and readiness to check in excess baggage if required are generally sufficient. In many instances, hand luggage has not been weighed at all during numerous flights.

For Pegasus Airlines flights with a 'Light' fare (typically including only 3kg of hand luggage), a laptop should usually be packed within the main carry-on bag. While checks are not extremely frequent, it is advisable to confirm the airline's specific hand luggage policy beforehand to avoid issues during boarding.
