In Morocco, wearing shorts is generally acceptable, particularly in major cities like Casablanca, Tangier, and Marrakech. While in the medina of Fez, it might be perceived as less traditional, it is unlikely to cause offense. Local men may look, which is considered normal. If locals are seen wearing jeans in cafes due to the heat, shorts are an acceptable alternative. Lightweight cotton trousers or long skirts are also recommended as comfortable alternatives to jeans in hot weather.
