Visa transfer: The visa itself is not typically transferred; the validation number (AGDREF) is associated with the applicant. The new passport should be presented along with the damaged passport containing the visa and confirmation of validation. 3. Renewal/extension: A new passport can be used for subsequent procedures like residency permit renewal, provided the visa validation is presented. Travel outside France with a damaged passport and new passport might be risky until a new residency card is issued.

Employers typically need to obtain a work authorization ('autorisation de travail'), which involves a labor market test (proving no local candidates are available) unless the candidate qualifies for a 'Talent Passport' visa with a minimum salary threshold (approx. €60,000/year).

To avoid 'un refus implicite' (implied refusal), if no response is received after 6 months from the OFII notification date, it is advisable to send a 'recours gracieux' (informal appeal/request for reconsideration) to the prefecture to inquire about the application status.
