'Visa runs' are not an option, and the 90-day count resets on January 1st. To stay longer, an RVP (temporary residence permit) or VNZh (permanent residence permit) must be obtained. While registration is possible, it doesn't negate the 90-day limit unless it's a permanent registration linked to RVP/VNZh. Obtaining RVP/VNZh typically requires grounds like employment, study, or property ownership, although simplified procedures might exist for Russian citizens, potentially not requiring immediate employment. Special attention is needed if entering Belarus with one passport (e.g., Ukrainian) and registering with another (e.g., Russian). Travel through third countries like Turkey is possible but may incur fines in Russia for not using a Russian international passport.
