Cards are widely accepted, even by street vendors, but cash might be needed for minor expenses (e.g., public toilets). For card payments, always say 'crédito'. Some non-Brazilian cards (e.g., Kazakhstan's Freedom Card) may not work in all terminals (e.g., ~30% of 'orange' terminals) or require insertion instead of tap. Certain banks (e.g., Halyk) might require prior notification of travel to Brazil for card functionality. Avoid exchanging currency at airports due to unfavorable rates. While foreign bank cards work in Brazil, Russian cards do not. It's advisable to have Brazilian Reals in cash. Travel insurance can be obtained through one's bank. Standard entry requirements include round-trip tickets, hotel bookings for the entire stay, insurance, and sufficient funds (cash or working foreign card). While Brazilian immigration may not always request all documents, it's best to comply with the requirements listed on the Brazilian Embassy's website to avoid issues. Proof of funds and return tickets might be checked at departure or during transit.

It is crucial to 'unlock' your card for international use before traveling to avoid issues. Some non-CIS issued cards, such as certain US cards, may also function in specific countries like Belarus.

Russian rubles cannot be exchanged in Brazil; conversion to USD should be performed in transit countries like Armenia, Kazakhstan, or Kyrgyzstan where local exchange offices accept RUB.

Carrying fresh US Dollars is also recommended as a backup.
