Significant delays (up to 9 hours) occur due to prolonged interviews at the border. There are no pedestrian crossings between Poland and Belarus; travel is strictly by bus or private vehicle.

Factors influencing wait times include: * **Time of day:** Early morning and midday can sometimes have fewer vehicles. * **Day of week:** Weekends and specific days might be busier. * **National holidays:** Both Turkish and Bulgarian holidays can cause significant delays. * **Mode of transport:** Individual transfers or private cars often experience shorter waits compared to buses, especially if there are multiple buses. * **Direction of travel:** Wait times can differ based on whether you are entering Turkey or Bulgaria. Recent reports varied from 20 minutes (individual transfer) to 1.5 hours (bus) on specific dates, contradicting rumors of 7-hour waits.

Despite initial quick passage, a delay occurred due to biometric processing for several passengers. The bus and luggage were subsequently subjected to thorough scanning and inspection, with undeclared goods (clothing, produce) confiscated. The process, including baggage handling and passenger coordination, extended the border crossing time significantly (from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours). Border police checks also occurred on both sides, but were brief. Night buses are suggested to be calmer.
